Blogger blog has already introduced custom domain name, so if you are going to purchase a domain name through Google Blogger, there’s no issue in setting it up because Blogger automatically configures CNAME records in their databases. However, if you bought the domain name, separately, then you have to configure it manually. In this post, I am going to show you how to set up or host your domain name on Blogger Blogging Platform.

Before setup custom domain on blogger, you need to purchase a domain. If you don’t have a domain, these are the right places that you should be looking for to get one.
Well, now it’s the time to show you how you can add a custom domain to your Blogger blogging platform.
Setting up blogger custom domain:
Step 1: First of all Login into your blogger dashboard, then Go to “Settings,” Choose “Basic.” Under the “Publishing section,” click on “+Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog”.
Step 2: Under the third-party domain, settings enter the custom domain name that you have purchased and also don’t forget to use “www” prefix in front of your domain name. Like you can see in the screenshot I have written www.sharetrick.com
Step 3: Now click on the save button. After click on save you will see an error message, saying “We have not been able to verify your authority to this domain. Error 12” as you can see in this following screenshot.
Step 4: Now under these errors message, you can see “CNAME” records details under the area “Name, Label or Host Field” and “Destination, Target, or Points To Field” (highlighted in aqua in the screenshot). Please note down this records because you will need these details later.
Now it’s time to log in to your domain control panel and follows the steps below to edit CNAME and A records, so don’t worry if you are not using Godaddy.com you can view steps for modifying DNS info here.

SETTING UP CNAME and DNS records on GoDaddy:
When you purchase a domain from GoDaddy, they assign an IP address (i.e., A record and CNAME record) for your domain name. Hence, you need to change those records to point your Blogger blog. This post can help you to change the “A record” and “CNAME record” of your GoDaddy account.
Step 6: After log into your account click on My account/Username in the upper right corner then click on Manage My Domains.
Step 7: Now you can see the following screenshot, then click on “Manage DNS.”
Step 10: Now select CNAME (Alias) then input your Blogger generated CNAME Record that mentions in screenshot no.3. Now click on Finish and then Save changes.
Step 11: Now again click on Add record under DNS Zone file and select A (Host) from the drop-down list and then in the ‘host’ box enter @ and in the ‘Point To’ box enter this following Google IP.
- 216.239.32.21
- 216.239.34.21
- 216.239.36.21
- 216.239.38.21
Step 12: After completed with CNAME and A record setup, Go back to Blogger Account and try to save the settings. The registration process takes 1-4 hour, so don’t worry if you get an error message .come again after 8-24 hours then click on save, your error should be gone.
Step 13: Now you need to redirect your non-www version domain to the www version. Go to your blog address area and Check off the redirect box then click on save.
